Lenny Henry In Conversation With Marcus Ryder
1h 6m
Join one of Britain’s best-known and most celebrated actors Lenny Henry, in conversation with Chair of RADA Council Marcus Ryder, as they celebrate the publication of their new book Black British Lives Matter.
In response to the international outcry at George Floyd’s death, Lenny and Marcus have commissioned this collection of essays to discuss how and why we need to fight for Black lives to matter – not just for Black people, but for British society as a whole.
With contributions from Nels Abbey, David Olusoga and Michelle Moore, Ryder and Henry will emphasise why Black lives, which are too often undervalued, should be celebrated, exploring the unique contributions, perspectives and importance of Black Britons to the United Kingdom and beyond. Sharing experiences from prominent Black figures, they will highlight the vital benefits that Black Britons bring to society and the crucial importance of eradicating systemic racism.
Wide-ranging and timely, this event stresses how Black British people have unique perspectives and experiences that enrich British society and the world; how Black lives are far more interesting and important than the forces that try to limit it.
