Nigel Slater and Elizabeth Day: ON DEMAND
One of the nation’s favourite cooks Nigel Slater will be joined in his beautiful London home by author and How To Fail podcast host Elizabeth Day, to celebrate Nigel’s recent publication: A Cook’s Book.
For this rare live appearance, Nigel will be sharing his best recipes, top cooking tips and most evocative food memoires, from the first jam tart he made with his mum standing on a chair trying to reach the Aga, through to what he is cooking now. Nigel will touch on how his cooking has changed over the years and recall the stories behind the recipes in his latest book – memories such as the first time he ate a baguette in Paris, his love of jewel-bright Japanese pickled radishes, and his initial slice of buttercream-topped chocolate cake. Delicious!
Along the way, Nigel will also share his cooking secrets – such as the best way to roast a chicken and the trick to smoky, smooth aubergine mash. Together, Nigel and Elizabeth will get to the heart and soul of cooking, as well as touching on Nigel’s experience as food columnist for The Observer for over twenty years and his award-winning memoir Toast, which is now a major BBC film starring Helena Bonham-Carter and was successfully adapted for stage.
Don’t miss the opportunity to cosy up and spend a comforting, yet enlightening, evening at home with Nigel and Elizabeth, as Nigel tells the story of his life in the kitchen.
‘This, and it’s high praise, is Slater’s best book’ Diana Henry
